Honouring Peter Naglik

Peter Naglik was a remarkable man who wrote speeches for Mike Harris, Ernie Eves, Jason Kenney and the Right Honourable Stephen Harper. He died tragically in an automobile accident in September, at the age of 39. Friends and colleagues remember a gifted writer, a loyal friend, a man of great faith, an outspoken advocate of Conservative ideals, principles and values. Many are those Conservatives who benefited from his talents, energy and generosity. One admirer wrote: “He left behind a legacy of quiet, active, strategic and brilliant work for the growing social conservative movement in Canada.”

His friends have instituted the Peter Naglik Scholarship Fund at St. Michael's College, University of Toronto. The National Office is matching contributions from Conservative constituency associations up to $3000. The Directors of the Ottawa South Conservative Association have decided to make the Peter Naglik Scholarship fund the principal beneficiary of the 2007 Ham or Lamb Fundraiser. To honour Peter Naglik, please download this form, fill it out, and enjoy a top quality ham or lamb for dinner.

Dear Members of the Ottawa South Conservative Association (OSCA),

I would like to begin by expressing my sincere thanks and gratitude for the faith the board has placed in me by re-electing me as OSCA President for 2006-2007. It is truly a pleasure to continue my duties and I look forward to the many challenges that 2007 will bring.

Looking back upon the last year, things have been quite eventful for OSCA. From the January election to our many fundraising activities, I think it would be an understatement to say that the association has been extremely busy in 2006!

With the year coming to a close, I wanted to thank all of you for your help over the last year. Whether it was serving on the Board, helping out on the Alan Cutler election team, attending events, or simply becoming a member of OSCA – it is thanks to you that OSCA is able to continue its efforts.

With the advent of 2007 and a new Liberal leader, like many of you, I suspect it's only a matter of time before the next Federal election is called. Whether the election comes within weeks or months, let me assure you; OSCA will be prepared!

This year's Board is already hard at work planning the events and strategies that will be needed to beat David McGuinty in Ottawa South, and with the help of our new OSCA Board of Directors and OSCA volunteers, I'm convinced that we can win this riding.

In closing, thank you again for being a member of OSCA in 2006, and I hope you will continue to support us in 2007. Also, if you are interested in helping OSCA either as a volunteer or by serving on OSCA's Board of Directors, please feel free to contact me at: president-2006@ottawasouth.ca for more information.

I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and in this special time of year, may your house be filled with the warmth, laughter, and love of your family.

Rob Dekker, President
Ottawa South Conservative Association
